Stocking Up for Winter: Vermilion County Republicans' Coat Drive a Success

On Saturday, September 26th from 9am to 12pm, Vermilion County Republicans hosted a Coat Drive in Danville, benefiting Fair Hope Children's Ministry, an organization that gave out 1,002 winter coats to local kids last year alone. Community members brought winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, snow pants, scarves, and blankets to help keep Vermilion County kids warm this winter, with new and gently used children's and teen sizes especially needed.

The drive brought in a strong haul of donations: 28 total coats, including 14 brand new, along with 2 jackets, 13 pairs of snow pants, 11 pairs of gloves, 10 hats, 29 scarves, and 3 throws. It's exactly the kind of help that makes a difference: nationally, an estimated 2 in 5 kids in the U.S. face clothing insecurity, going without basic essentials like a winter coat. Every item collected is headed to Fair Hope Children's Ministry.

Under Matt Long's leadership, Vermilion County Republicans continue to look for practical ways to meet real needs in the community heading into the colder months.
